Elden Ring Nightreign is out on Steam and consoles. Unsurprisingly, the PC version is a crude port without any platform-specific features. There’s no upscaling or frame generation, the frame rate is locked at 60 FPS, and let’s forget about ray-tracing. We tested the game, and although it performs well, there can be random stuttering on midrange and lower-end PCs—more in our optimization guide.
How to Remove the 60 FPS Cap in Elden Ring Nightreign
There are three ways to remove the 60 FPS cap in Elden Ring Nightreign:
- You can turn on Smooth Motion from the NVIDIA App, which enables driver-level frame generation and doubles the FPS cap to 120 FPS. Unfortunately, this is only supported on the RTX 50 series GPUs.
- The Lossless Scaling application can enable frame generation (using LSFG 3.0).
- The multiplier can be set to 2x, and the capture API to WGC.
- Ensure that sync mode is disabled, and the queue target is set to 0.
- The above two methods are suboptimal as they can lead to artifacting, latency increases, and other glitches.
- The third method is a little complicated, but it works the best.
Elden Ring Nightreign: Disable EAC & Unlock the 60 FPS Cap
First, you need to disable Easy Anti-Cheat, or you won’t be able to tweak any of the game files:

- Go to the Elden Ring Nightreign directory.
- Go to the game’s properties in Steam-> Installed Files -> Browse…
- Enter the “Game” folder
- Rename the “start_protected_game” to “start_protected_backup“
- Rename the “ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN” exe file to “start_protected_game“
- Run the “start_protected_game” to start the game without EAC.
- You’ll need to run the game this way every time if you want to circumvent EAC and the FPS cap.
- Note that you won’t be able to play the official multiplayer without EAC, and will need a mod like Seamless Co-op to play with your friends.
- You can undo the modifications by verifying the game files from the Installed Files tab in Steam Properties.
Elden Ring Nightreign Unlock 60 FPS Cap for Coop
With Easy Anti-Cheat out of the way, you need to download the Elden Mod Loader and Nightreign Unlock the FPS mods:

- Extract the two mods and copy the Unlock the FPS mod files to the “mods” folder in the Elden Mod Loader directory.
- Copy the Elden Mod Loader to the main Nightreign directory, where you renamed the EAC files. It should look like the above.
- The UnlockTheFPS mod folder has a config file that can be edited to set the exact FPS limit for the game. By default, it’s set to 120 FPS.
- Despite what the heathens might say, Elden Ring Nightreign runs perfectly at 120 FPS and 144 FPS.
