Throne and Liberty Optimized Settings for Low-end PC: RTX 3060, RTX 4060 & 4060 Laptop GPU

Throne and Liberty has become one of the most-played MMOs on Steam. Despite not being available in India and China, NCSoft’s latest title has amassed a peak concurrent player base of over 300K within a few days. In our optimization guide, we covered the performance and visual impact of each graphics setting at every option. This short version covers the performance of Throne and Liberty on low-end PCs powered by hex-core CPUs and 60-class GPUs.

Throne and Liberty: PC System Requirements

Throne and Liberty features modest PC specs for an Unreal Engine 4 title. A Rocket Lake-based Core i5 or higher is needed, alongside the GeForce GTX 1660, and 16 GB of main memory. The game takes up to 63 GB of storage space (preferably an SSD), and a broadband connection.

  • OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit.
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K.
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM.
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1660.
  • DirectX 12.
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection.
  • Storage: 63 GB available space.

Minimum Specs

  • OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit.
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-7700.
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM.
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960.
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection.
  • Storage: 63 GB storage space.

Windows/System Settings to Optimize

  • Enable Resizable BAR.
  • Turn on Game Mode.
  • Enable Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) and Windowed Optimizations.
  • Use the Windows “High Performance” power profile and set your GPU power management mode to the same.
  • Disable Memory Integrity. Windows Menu->VBS->Device Security.
  • Ensure you use the proper XMP/EXPO memory profile (if available).
  • Overclock your GPU if you’re narrowly missing the 60 FPS mark.
  • Here’s a guide with more detailed instructions.

Throne and Liberty: Low-end Benchmarks

Throne and Liberty runs well on budget PCs, mostly. The lows start choking with too many onscreen characters (other players). Our Ryzen 5/RTX 3060 PC drops below 30 FPS at 1080p in some of the more crowded areas of Kastleton. Reducing the maximum character count and quality brings it up to 45 FPS.

Further enabling DLSS using “Quality” mode makes for a stable average of 81 FPS with lows of 51 FPS. The GeForce RTX 4060 produces roughly similar framerates (and 1% lows) at native 1080p, using the same character culling/quality settings.

QHD or 1440p is understandably more taxing; the RTX 3060 averages 66 FPS (44 FPS lows) with DLSS “Quality” upscaling enabled. Switching to “Balanced” upscaling mode increases the averages and lows to 72 FPS and 49 FPS, respectively. The RTX 4060 nets an average of 77 FPS and lows of 49 FPS, using the DLSS “Quality” preset at 1440p.

VRAM Usage and CPU Bottlenecks

As noted in our primary optimization guide, Throne and Liberty consumes up to 10 GB of graphics memory on the RTX 3060 (12 GB) with a peak of 7.5 to 8 GB on the RTX 4060. We see reduced pop-ins on the former, with faster texture streaming times.

1080p DLSS “Balanced”

Throne and Liberty is GPU-bound on the Ryzen 5 5600, with an average GPU-Busy deviation of 4-5%. It peaks at 11% when using the “Balanced” upscaling preset at 1080p. Suffice it to say, you don’t need a particularly high-end CPU for this time.
